Sean Becker Continues to Shine at Chico

CHICO, CA (7-28-10) - Oroville champion driver Sean Becker has won the last two main events he and his Brian Sperry Motorsports #51 team have entered at Silver Dollar Speedway. Becker comes into this weekend on quite a roll. Friday nights race is sponsored by Cherry St. Mini Storage and Dan's Roofing, two of the cars marketing partners. Can all of this lead to his third win in a row? We will all find out Friday night, July 30, as point race #16 during the Feather Falls Casino / Riebes Auto Parts championship series continues at Chico. The 410 winged sprints, wingless sprints, dirt modifieds and dwarf cars are scheduled to attend.

Front grandstand gate opens at 6pm with racing slated to start at 7 pm. Adult general admission cost is $12.00. Senior and Juniors pricing is $10.00 with children $5.00. Tonight after the races, Sean Becker and the race team will have Otter Pops for the children that stop by their race hauler.

With scheduling conflicts between some of the Friday night shows and Civil War racing, drivers like Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg and Mason Moore are all unable to attend every Chico point race. All three drivers are committed to being crowned the top 360 driver in California. Of the eight point shows, all three drivers have had to miss two races in Chico. It's interesting to point out that of the three, Mason Moore holds a 14-point lead over Becker and a 24-point advantage over Forsberg. Moore is in eight, Becker ninth and Forsberg sits tenth in the Friday night championship. One look at the Civil War points standings will show that the three drives are in reverse order. Forsberg is the point leader, Becker sits third and Moore is in fifth. Forsberg has two wins while Becker and Moore are winless.

Of the three, Moore has been the most consistent at Chico in a 410 sprint car going six for six when it comes to top ten finishes. Yet, it's Becker who has the wins. Becker won last Friday night, but, it's the way he won that still has people talking. Becker flipped on the first attempted main event start. The team and other helpers barely got the car repaired before the race was restarted. Becker then charged to the front and won the 25-lap event. The team seems to be clicking. They are closing in on their second full year together. Both Becker and Sperry are well respected in sprint car racing. The team also has connections to Steve Harris Racing and Bobby and Sean McMahan. It's been a pleasure to watch this team come together the last month or so and produce results that they deserve. Sean will also have a new competitor to face on Friday night. Daniel Becker is slated to run a second team car with Sean that Sperry is fielding. He is doing so because of Cherry Street Mini Storage and Dan's Roofing involved with sponsoring the night.

Brett Miller continues to lead the sprint car point standings. Jason York sits in the second spot just nine points back. Five races are left in the 2010 championship season. Both drivers must be solid down the stretch. Tyler Wolf is lurking in third. Wolf is 18-points behind. Mark Hall and Kevin Sharrah round out the top five.

The top three in the wingless sprints are only seven points apart. Terry Schank Jr. leads the division with two wins in five starts. Brett Youngman sits in the second spot. Youngman has two heat wins and finished in the top ten of the main events all five times. The defending champion of this group is Jimmy Pettit. He has one heat race win and is still looking to visit victory lane for the first time at Chico in 2010. Rowdy McClenon and Jay Youngman round out the top five.

The dirt modified division is led by Randy McDaniel. Three wins in six starts this season has McDaniel rejuvenated and looking to win an unprecedented fourth track title. Darin Ruley is in striking distance of McDaniel. Ruley is only nine-points out of the top spot. Wade Kennemore continues to impress with his tenacity behind the wheel. Kennemore is 22-points behind McDaniel. Mark Abouzeid, Ryan McDaniel and Richard Papenhausen are all winners this year. Each are expected to compete with Randy for the win this Friday night.

It seems strange to say this Friday marks the first visit of the year at Chico for the popular Dwarf Cars. This group has been a division that usually gets in around four races a year. Their first scheduled visit was planned for April 2, but that race was canceled because of bad weather. The Dwarf cars will return one other time this year on August 13th. It is always a pleasure to watch this group of drivers as they provide such good, close racing.

A full night of racing is planned for this Friday night. For complete point standings, schedule or upcoming Gold Cup information please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com
