It's Down to Two on Dan's Roofing / Cherry St. Mini Storage Night

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400"]It's Down to Two on Dan's Roofing / Cherry St. Mini Storage Night Photo by Steven Cox [sprintcarphotos.com][/caption]CHICO, CA (7-26-11) - And then there were two. This Friday night, the Wells Fargo point championship will come to a melting pot between two drivers in the sprint car division. The dirt modifieds, wingless sprints and street stocks are also on the card. The night will be presented by Dan's Roofing and Cherry St. Mini Storage. These two wonderful businesses have been so supportive of Silver Dollar Speedway over the years. They are also dedicated fans who love the sport as much as anyone else at the Speedway.

Front grandstand gate opens at 6pm with racing slated to start at 7pm with sprint car qualifying. Adult general admission is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 and children $6.00. For more information please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com

The first contestant is two-time champion Andy Forsberg. The Auburn native has elected to compete this Friday night and go for another track championship. "I had two choices for this Friday," said Forsberg. "We have decided as a team to return to Chico and go for the title." Redding's Tyler Wolf is the other entity. Wolf has to be considered the underdog. The youngster has only a handful of years behind the wheel of a sprint car. Not only has he never won a championship but never parked his #19 in victory lane at Chico. The top two are separated by a mere two-point difference with four nights to go. Will the veteran (Forsberg) get is done or can the upstart inexperienced (Wolf) get the job done? Fans will just have to come out to find see.

The dirt modified battle has been just as thrilling. Richard Papenhausen leads Mark Abouzeid by four points. Each driver has three wins this year. Each has won the track championship in the past. Each are local superstars with a strong following a fans. Will these two continue to rule the division or can Jeff Olschowka, JD Thompson or Kevin Pendergrass spoil their fun? This Friday night is a pivotal event. Which team has the right stuff and which team won't? No matter what happens, it will be a can's miss night of racing.

Kevin Lesch has had a dream season. Three wins and strong finishes have catapulted the Chico driver into a big point lead. He holds a 48-point advantage over the nearest competitor. The Chico Volkswagen driver is followed by Mike Slightom and Kevin Ward. Slightom holds a two-point advantage over Ward; however, Ward has two wins and continues to gain ground on Slightom. Richard Workman and Shawn Smith have proved to be tough foes and look for them to get into victory lane soon.

Terry Schank Jr. is looking for his second consecutive track title. He holds a 35-point advantage over Capay's finest Taylor Simas. In fact, the point battle between second through fifth is a good one. Simas hold a five-point lead over Braedon Enos and an eight point lead over BJ Martin. The always dangerous Jimmy Sills sits 12-points behind Martin for fourth.
