Nuttin' But Fun

CHICO, CA (5-20-13) - The Ferris-Wheel could be the most iconic thing related childhood memories of a county fair, however, motorsports will be the highlight of this year's Silver Dollar Fair. Four uniquely different motorsports events will take the center stage during this year's themed, "Nuttin But Fun" Silver Dollar Fair. "It's a dream line-up," said Bill Sullivan of Handy Racing Promotions. "Whether you like X-treme Motocross or sprint cars or my personal favorite, destruction derby, it seems like there is something for every motorsports fan at this year's fair." A complete line-up of fair activity including the concerts and carnival activities please visit www.silverdollarfair.org.

Friday night the X-treme Motocross riders will be the first group to shine on the infield of the Silver Dollar Speedway. Veteran motocross expert Lowell Moural Sr. and crew have spent countless hours building this dream off-road course. This year, the Main events and special activities are scheduled to take place in the night time. Fans are welcomed to enter the PG & E Grandstands at 7 PM. Heat races and qualifying events will take place earlier in the day.

Saturday night it will be a test of endurance and strength. Man versus machine. Only the fittest and strongest drivers can survive the grueling 200-lap Enduro race around the high banked Silver Dollar Speedway. This technical and challenging race always draws some of the greatest Enduro drivers in California. Former champions of this event include Gene Guinn, Wes Brown and Brian Compton. The PG & E grandstands will open at 6 PM.

The roar of the open wheel Hoosier Racing Tire Civil War Series will invade the speedway on Sunday night. This annual high flying event will bring the "who's-who" of sprint car racing led by Roseville's Sean Becker and Auburn's Andy Forsberg, however, it's hot-shoe Justin Sanders who is leading the point standings after the first three events. Veteran Greg DeCaires and local favorite Mason Moore are in the top five of the points and will be strong contenders for the win. The PG & E grandstands will open at 6 PM.

On Monday the popular Demolition Derby will take center stage starting at 2 PM. The rip roaring, carnage producing action will take place right in front of the PG & E Grandstands. During the half-time intermission promoter Dennis Gage will entertain the crowd by bringing in with his favorite comedian "Spike."

All of these grandstand activities are free with your paid admission into the Silver Dollar Fair. Adult general admission is just $8.00. Senior price is $6.00, children are $3.00 and kids six and under are free. There is a $5.00 daily parking fee. Friday the front gates of the fair will open at 2 PM. The front gate will open at 11 AM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. For more information about the Silver Dollar Fair please call (530) 895-4666.
