Jonathan Allard Is On Fire, Wins Again

CHICO, CA (7-4-13) - On yet another scorching hot Independence Day at Silver Dollar Speedway Jonathan Allard leads all 25 laps to win the 410 Sprint Car July 4th Spectacular. "We've been running a new shock package and it's been great. We are on a roll lately and hopefully it stays that way. Got to thank all the guys for working hard the last few weeks and it's been paying off," said Allard in the pit area post-race. This marks Jonathan's 4th win in as many tries and his 48th win at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Other winners during Wells Fargo Points Race #11 included, Terry Shank Jr. in the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprints, Brian Compton in the Hobby Stocks, and Jake Vantol in the Street Stocks.

With there being a California Sprint Civil War Series event being held in Placerville tonight the 410 Sprint Cars were running a Non-Points paying event, and the racing was intense. Jonathan Allard and Brad Bumgarner would lead the field to the green flag from the front row of the A Main event. Allard got the jump and never looked back. The race was halted only twice, once for a spin on lap 4 for Clint Wilson and again on lap 15 this time for Kevin Sharrah. Each restart Allard would build up a comfortable lead and it was clear sailing as the closest competitor was a straightaway behind. The real action was the fight from second on back. On the start Brad Bumgarner would slot into second while Michael Tarter again made some great moves in the first turn to jump to third after lap one from his fifth place starting position. Tarter would stalk Bumgarner for the first few laps until Bobby McMahan would race his way by Tarter and eventually Bumgarner as well. As they crossed the finish line it was Allard winning followed by past champion Bobby McMahan out of Elk Grove, it was great to see Bobby run so competitively tonight and we hope to see him at Silver Dollar a few more times this year, third place went to Mr. Consistency Brad Bumgarner of Chico with his third straight podium finish, fourth went to Anderson's Keith Bloom Jr., and fifth place went to Tyler Spath in the KR14 out of Corvallis, Oregon. Jonathan Allard was fastest in Qualifying at a 12.548. Heat Races were claimed by Sean McMahan and Kevin Sharrah, for both drivers it was their first heat race wins of the year at Silver Dollar.

The Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Series rolled into town tonight partnered with the Weekly Perma-Zyme Wingless Sprint Cars tonight with 16 cars signed in. In the end it was Santa Rosa's Terry Shank Jr. picking up his second win in the series this year. This was an exciting race as the top 6 or so cars were nose to tail within one second of each other for most of the race. Young Colton Slack from Brentwood, Ca. showed a lot of speed tonight claiming a Heat race win, won the Dash, started from the Pole of the Feature but would only lead the first lap as Geoff Ensign would then drive underneath of him in turn one to take over the top spot. But the race was not over yet. As everyone was forming a freight train around the bottom. Colton Slack got up on the wheel and drove it to the high scary side. Slack was the only driver to even try running the top and almost made it work as he could pull even but couldn't get the drive off the exit of the turn. He would drop back to third moving Shank into second spot. After stalking Ensign lap after lap waiting for him to make a mistake. Shank saw his opening in turn one on lap 17 and took the lead as Ensign missed the bottom just enough to allow Shank to squeeze in, and from there it was all Terry Shank cruising to victory over Sebastapol's Geoff Ensign, Colton Slack hung onto the third slot, followed by Rio Linda's Scott Hall in fourth, and Rowdy McClenon in fifth. Austin Liggett laid down the fastest lap in Qualifying at a 14.228. Heat Race action saw Terry Shank Jr. and Colton Slack pick up victories.

The Hobby Stocks brought us the always exciting bumping and banging grassroots style racing that everyone always loves. Duane Orsburn reached the checkered flag first but a post-race inspection found his car to be illegal. This allowed second place finishing Brian Compton to get the win. Compton's win will allow him to continue on as the point leader. David Pierce, who is one of the most competitive drivers in the division, finished second. Chico's Russell House in raced his way to a solid third place finish while Scott Longmire in was fourth. Heat Races were claimed by Scott Longmire out of Chico, and Sacramento's Brian Compton.

Orland's Jake Vantol would sail to his fifth win of the season in the Street Stock division. Vantol has already surpassed his win total of four from last year's championship season and has a comfortable lead thus far in this year's standings. The Street Stock Main Event was marred by cautions as the drivers found the slick track conditions challenging. But when it was all said and done Jake Vantol was victorious once again. He was followed across the line by Gary Newman out of Cottonwood in second, Paradise's Kevin Ward rebounded from an early race spin to finish third, Bill Hall, and Shawn Smith would round out the top five. Heat Races were claimed by Jake Vantol and Kevin Ward.

Points racing action returns to The famed Silver Dollar Speedway next Friday night, July 12th. With Wells Fargo Points Race #12 featuring the 410 Winged Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Dirt Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Mini Stocks, and Hobby Stocks. A solid six division show should bring in a lot of cars which means a lot of action! Gates open at 6pm with racing slated to start at 7pm. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for Seniors and Juniors (12-15), and $6 for children ages 6 to 11, 5 and under are Free! Full results are available at www.silverdollarspeedway.com
