Silver Dollar Speedway
Five Divisions Friday Night at Chico
Penngrove's Alissa Geving will pilot her Chick-O-Motorsports #3x this Friday night in Chico. This will mark her second appearance of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway. The three-time Petaluma sprint car champion qualified fifth and finished seventh in the main event during her visit back on June 14th. The driver who won that night was Auburn's Andy Forsberg. He will once again be driving the PT Shock #7c this Friday night and hoping to secure his third win this year at Chico while driving this car. Chico's Brad Bumgarner, in the family owned #88, and Roseville' Sean Becker, piloting Dan Menne's #75, will both be in on the track trying to know Forsberg out of the top spot. For many of the top 360 teams in Northern California, Friday's show is a must attend to get their final chance to race before the Pacific Cup in September.
Anderson's Rowdy McClenon picked up his fourth Perma-Zyme wingless main event victory of 2013 last Friday night. McClenon has continued to receive pressure from Oroville's Ron LaPlant this year. LaPlant will look to get back into victory lane this weekend. Orland's Don Emory should be commended. He is the only other driver to make all six events this season.
The dirt modifieds continue to be the best point's battle going. Duane Cleveland holds a narrow two-point lead over Richard Papenhausen. Ryan McDaniel and Oreste Gonella are tied for third and sit seven points back. Mark Abouzeid battled Cleveland for the win two weeks ago but came up a bit short. Abouzeid will look for his first win of the season this Friday. The dirt modifieds have been a fan favorite and continue to have a solid year at Chico.
Nine drivers have competed in all three Limited Late Model events this year. It's a testament to the excitement that this rejuvenated division brings to Chico. Ryan McDaniel won the previous main event and holds a nine point lead over Ken Micheli of Live Oak. Matt Micheli sits one point shy of his father. David Newquist and David Larabee are tied for fourth in the points. Both drivers are 20-points behind the leader.
The street stocks have been the most loyal group of racers in 2013 at Chico. This Friday night will mark their tenth race of the season, tops for Chico, and they provide a strong following of good drivers. Orland's Jake Vantol leads the charge with five wins in nine starts. Paradise's Kevin Ward picked up his first win of the year last Friday and finds himself in the second spot. Shawn Smith and Mark Newman are tied for the third spot. Richard Workman rounds out the top five. Workman seemed to have the main event won last Friday until a spin ended his chance for the win.
