Jonathan Allard Makes History, Earns Win #49

CHICO, CA (8-2-13) - When you put Jonathan Allard on the front row anywhere he is going to be difficult to beat. That was the case again tonight as Jonathan would take the lead on Lap 7 and never looked back as he would go on to lead the next 18 laps and take the victory. The win marks Jonathan Allard's 49 career wins at the speedway, tying him for third place overall on the win list with Seven Time Champion Shane Scott and Two Time Champion Wayne Sue. "It feels really good to be able to tie Shane Scott and Wayne Sue in the win category. I really want to thank all the guys from Platinum Powdercoating, and my Williams Motorsports crew." said an elated Allard in Victory lane. The win was Allard's fifth win at Silver Dollar Speedway this year. Other winners during Wells Fargo Points Race #15 include, Misty Castleberry who continues her Main Event win streak in the Mini Stocks, Ryan Mcdaniel in the Dirt Modifieds, Brandon Powell in the Winged Economy Sprints, and Brian Compton in a hard fought Hobby Stock main.

Before the green flag even dropped for the main event one challenger for the win went up in smoke. During warmups before the main event started, Brad Bumgarner's car went up in smoke down the front straightaway, thus ending his bid for another top finish. But it would be Andy Forsberg and Jonathan Allard leading the field down to the green flag. When the flag dropped Forsberg took off to a commanding opening lap lead. Until disaster would strike the 11z car of Christine Zaveson who brought out the red flag after a nasty series of flips on the back straight on lap 3. Christine would walk under her own power to the back of the ambulance for evaluation. She would be ok. Once the race went back green it was Sean Becker making moves through the field moving into the top 3 on lap 6. The race would be slowed again on lap 10 for debris on the front straight. Under caution, it was heartbreak city for Michael Tarter who would have to pit to change a flat right rear tire. Michael was running fifth at the time. The race would be halted once more on lap 12 for an accident involving Clint Wilson and Jeremy Phillips Jr. in turns 3 and 4. On the restart the race for the lead began to heat up. Sean Becker would make the pass on Andy Forsberg and begin to track down race leader Allard. Becker was working the inside line to perfection while Allard was banging it off the cushion on the high side. At times they were nearly side by side battling for the lead with Allard being able to hang on to the lead lap after lap. At the finish it would be Allard followed closely by Roseville's Sean Becker, Auburn's Andy Forsberg would come home in third, followed by Andy Gregg in fourth and Keith Bloom with and impressive top five finish. Fifteen cars signed in to the pits tonight. Fast time went to Andy Forsberg with a time of 12.246. Heat race wins were claimed by Victoria, Australia's Michael Cunningham and Orland's BJ Martin.

Misty Castleberry's perfect season is no more. Misty did however continue her main event win streak, but during heat race action Castleberry could not get around Galen Hainlin for the lead after starting last, thus, ending her bid for a perfect season at Silver Dollar Speedway. "We really wanted that perfect season but it just wasn't meant to be. Props to that 11h car, because he's the only one that's been able to race us all year." said Castleberry in Victory Lane. Castleberry would go on to lead every lap of the Main Event though. The win marks her fifth win on the year at Silver Dollar speedway. She was followed across the line by the 11h of Galen Hainlin who at one point would pass Castleberry coming out of turn four only to see the yellow flag being waved moving him back in to second place. In the end it was Castleberry and Hainlin, followed by James Foster in third, Kyle Davey in fourth, and Scott Kames would round out the top five.

Ryan Mcdaniel dominated the Dirt Modified Main Event. The points battle in this class is between three drivers who are all within 5 points of each other. Ryan would close the points gap tonight with his victory. Ryan was followed across the line by points leader Duane Cleveland, and other points contender Richard Papenhausen in third, Chris Nieman would finish in the fourth spot as the final car still running at the end of the event. Heat race victories were claimed by Richard Papenhausen and Ryan Mcdaniel.

Brandon Powell picked up his second straight Economy Sprint Car main event, he had a little help from lady luck though as he was running comfortably in second spot not able to catch the lead car of Jason Standley for the first thirteen laps of the twenty lap event. Until disaster would strike Standley coming off of turn four. Standley drifted a little wide down the front straight and clobbered the front straightaway wall ripping the top wing off and causing significant damage to the car. Under the yellow flag that handed the lead over to Powell who wouldn't look back for the next 7 laps and would pick up the victory. Powell was followed across the line by Scott Gannett in second, points leader Kyle Standley would finish third, Shawna Overton and Ron Wyman would round out the top five. The lone heat race for this division was claimed by Gary Koster.

Brian Compton continued his dominance over the Hobby Stock field. But it didn't come easily this week as he and Chris Barnett waged war against each other most of the race. They battled side by side, door to door, the way racing should be, hard but clean. Brian Compton was credited with leading every lap of the race but Barnett was right inside of him nearly every lap. Even making the pass sometimes in turn one only to lose it in turn four. The two drivers really put on a show tonight and we hope to see more action like that from this division in the upcoming weeks. Scott Longmire was credited with a third place finish as the final car on the lead lap. The lone heat race win was picked up by Paradise's David Pierce.

We take a week off next week at the Silver Dollar Speedway but will return again on Friday, August 16th with points race #16 and the Third and final race of the HotCoats Powdercoating Challenge Series for the Winged Sprint Cars. It looks to be an action packed night of racing with five divisions including the 410 Winged Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Winged Economy Sprints, and the Limited Late Models. The Front Grandstand Gate is scheduled to open at 6pm with racing slated to start at 7pm. Ticket prices are $13 for Adults, $11 for Seniors and Juniors (12-15), and $6 for children 11 and under. There are only a few races left this year, so catch them while you can. See you all in two weeks at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
