Kids Bike Night
CHICO, CA (8-12-13) -Â The final two nights of Wells Fargo Friday night point championship racing resumes this Friday night, August 16th, with the annual Kids Bike Night coinciding with the big car races. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free into this nights racing action. Kids can bring their bike and during the intermission get the chance to race on the same famous clay that their racing hero's do. Kids will also receive a coupon at the entrance good for a free soda and hot dog courtesy of Silver Dollar Speedway. All of the children in attendance will get a chance to entering a free drawing for a new BMX bike. We will pick the winning name on the front stretch and present the new bike in front of the grandstand crowd.
Of course the night will be filled with the loud roar and thunder of the 410 winged sprints, limited late models, street stocks, winged economy sprints and hobby stocks. Sadly, tonight marks the final night of championship racing for three of these divisions. The winged economy, hobby stocks and limited late models season comes to an end tonight. If you are a fan of any three of these divisions, it's time to come out and support them. All three divisions have been well attended by drivers and we thank them for a great year at the speedway in 2013.
August 16th also marks the third and final night for the HotCoats Powder Coating Challenge Series in the winged 410 sprint car division. The previous two point races were held on April 26th and June 28th. Going into this final separate point's battle, Auburn's Andy Forsberg leads Chico's Michael Tarter by just four points. Forsberg has 96 points compared to Tarter's 92. Two other drivers still with a legitimate chance to win include Sean Becker (88 points) and Brad Bumgarner (85). The winner of the points contest will receive a one of a kind custom trophy and a gift certificate to HotCoats Powder Coating in Chico.
Adding to the excitement of the night, Mike Davern will hold the drawing for his special Extreme Gold Cup package. The winner of the random drawing will receive a Gold Cup experience valued at over $2500. This is the final week to send in an entry form to be included in this drawing.
As always, the Friday night front gate will open at 6 pm. Adult general admission is $13.00. Juniors and seniors are $11.00. We offer a Chico St., Butte College and Military discount. Pit gate will open at 4 pm. Racing is slated to start around 7 pm. The bike races for the kids will take place following the final heat race of the night.
