Sean Becker adds to win total at Chico, now at 48

CHICO, CA (3-14-14) - Sean Becker once again worked his magic at Silver Dollar Speedway on board the Menne Motorsports #75 Machine, powering to a strong victory. His second of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway and the 48th of his career at the track. Putting him one win out of the three way tie for third on the all time list. Other winners during Points Race #1 included Randy McDaniel in the Dirt Modifieds, Mitch Machado in the Street Stocks, and Jesse Skidmore in the Hobby Stock Division.

The front row of the 360 sprint car main was a tale of two backgrounds; Sean Becker the seasoned veteran was on the pole with Adam Brenton the Type 1 Diabetic, up and coming driver. At the drop of the green flag Brenton shot out of a rocket and powered to the lead. Brenton would lead the first 8 circuits before he was reeled in by Becker and Andy Gregg. Gregg drove the wheels off of his Miller Fortune, Brian Cannon prepared #53 hot rod. Making big moves at the beginning of the race to jump up into the battle for the top spot. After Becker took the lead from Brenton on lap 9, Gregg was soon to follow. Brenton stayed in the top five for most of the race but a stuck bleeder would slow him in the end and delegate him to an 11th place finish. Once Becker took the lead however, he didnt look back en route to his 48th career victory at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway. Andy Gregg and Brian Cannon once again proved they are a force to be reckoned with by garnering another podium finish together. Look for that duo to run up front a lot this year. Billy Wallace drove a great race in the yellow #6w finishing in the third position. Napa, California's Kirt Organ drove a stellar race in the Jensen Motorsports #5 entry finishing a solid fourth. While the top five was rounded out by Paradise, California's John Michael Bunch in the REMAX, and Voltage Specialists #11vs machine. Bunch has had a very solid start to the year and is looking forward to a big year for his team. Sean Becker started off the night by setting his 26th career fast time at the speedway with a time of 14.947. Heat Races were claimed by Kirt Organ, Adam Brenton, and John Michael Bunch.

The Twenty Lap Dirt Modified A-Main was action packed and saw plenty of great racing. As the green flag flew Mitch Machado jumped out in to the lead. During the first six laps Machado was able to hold the lead but was being attacked at all angles by Randy McDaniel, Duane Cleveland, and Jake Vantol all battling for the number one position. Jake Vantol would get around Machado and lead lap number 7, only to surrender the lead back in to the grasp of Machado. Vantol and Machado would race hard, side by side, and nose to tail until lap 14 when Vantol's car seemed to lose power thus ending his chances at victory, and relinquishing the second position to the legendary Randy McDaniel. Randy drove the final six laps flawlessly, reeling in the #81 of Machado lap after lap. Finally as the two drove down the backstretch with two to go McDaniel got to the inside of Machado and made the pass in turn 3. Machado tried the bump and run move in turn one on the white flag lap, to no avail. Randy McDaniel pulled away on the final lap to pick up another win to add to his already very long list. Mitch Machado would hang on to finish in the runner up spot. Dustin Massey had a very strong showing wheeling his way to a solid third place finish. Ryan McDaniel and Duane Cleveland would round out the top five. Heat Race victories went to Jake Vantol and Mitch Machado both driving Ira Compton owned #81 machines.

After letting the victory in the Dirt Modified main event slip away, Mitch Machado felt he had something to prove during the street stock main event. Phil "The Thrill" Marino would jump out to the lead at the drop of the green flag, and lead the first 11 laps of the main event. But to minor mistakes in consecutive laps coming out of turn four allowed Machado to reel him in and make the pass. Machado would then put on a clinic lapping up to the 4th place finisher before crossing under the checkered flag. Chris Warner drove a great race passing Marino late in the race for the 2nd position. Marino would hold on for a 3rd place finish. Shawn Smith and Mike Slightom would round out the top five. The lone heat race was also claimed by Mitch Machado.

In the Hobby stock class the show was Jesse Skidmore. Skidmore would grab the lead at the beginning of the race and never look back. Nearly lapping the entire field. No one was even on the same level as him. David Pierce would cross the line in the 2nd position, followed by Kyle Allen, Brian Compton, and Shannon Collins rounding out the top five. The sole heat race for the Hobby Stocks was claimed by Jesse Skidmore as well.

Points Race #1 is in the books. It was an exciting, and action packed night of racing. We hope you all enjoyed it. We are taking next week off of racing but have a practice day scheduled for Sunday the 23rd of March. We will return to the Silver Dollar Speedway for racing in two weeks for the Mini Gold Cup Weekend. Friday the 28th of March will feature Points Race #2 showcasing the 360 Sprint Cars, Wingless Sprint Cars, Economy Sprint Cars, and the always popular Dwarf Cars. While the big show is on Saturday the 29th, when we welcome the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series to the speedway, along with the Dwarf Cars who will return for a second night in a row.
