Jonathan Allard Strikes Again at Silver Dollar

CHICO, CA (5-9-14) - Jonathan Allard picked up the popular victory for the 2nd consecutive week at Silver Dollar Speedway aboard the Clyde Lamar owned Tri-C Machine #3c. Tonight was a makeup race for the Tri-Counties Bank Championship Points battle, after Pts. Race #3 was rained out on April 4th. The win puts Allard at 51 career at Silver Dollar Speedway, just 5 shy of Tim Kaeding for 2nd on the all time list. Other winners during Tri-Counties Bank Night at the races included, Tim Sherman Jr. in the Wingless Sprint Cars, Jake Vantol in the Street Stock Division, Ryan McDaniel in the Ltd. Late Models, Jimmy Ford in the Mini Stocks, and Brian Compton returned to Victory Lane in the Hobby Stocks.

Geoff Ensign and Mason Moore started on the front row of the 410 A Main Event. On the start Moore would make a masterful move in turn two to take the lead. For the next 17 laps he would be hounded by Ensign, Jonathan Allard, and Andy Gregg. All four drivers at one point would do battle for the lead. Finally it would be Allard who jumped to the outside in turn 3 and 4 to power around Geoff Ensign for second, than he would do it again to get around Moore and move into the lead on lap 17. Andy Gregg fell out of contention for the win when he spun in turn 2 on lap 19. The Human Highlight Reel, Geoff Ensign was just that tonight. Ensign held tough behind Allard and looked as though he could challenge JA for the win. But on lap 22 disaster struck for Ensign as a mechanical failure forced him to the infield. That handed the 2nd position over to Sean Becker who had driven around everyone on the outside. Becker clearly had the fastest car over the final laps of the race but was just too far behind Allard to be able to make a move, Becker would have to settle for 2nd. Mason Moore would hang on to finish 3rd, and maintain a 3 point lead over Becker in the Points Standings. Andy Forsberg recovered from an early race spin to drive all the way back to a 4th place finish. While Keith Bloom drove a clean race and came home in the 5th position. Heat Race victories were claimed by Andy Gregg and Jonathan Allard. Andy Gregg had the fastest time in qualifying for the 2nd straight week aboard his Miller Fortune, 95.7 The Wolf, Guts Racing, Brian Cannon Wrenched #53 machine with a blistering time of 12.205 seconds.

The Wingless Sprint Car A Main victory was claimed by Tim Sherman Jr. This was Sherman's 2nd consecutive victory in the division at Silver Dollar. Sherman dominated tonight's feature while many of the other cars suffered mechanical failures. In heat race action though, we witnessed a very scary accident featuring the #74 machine of Taylor Nelson. On lap two of the Heat Race Nelson was battling another car for the lead when they made contact entering turn 3. That sent Nelson's car into a violent series of flips that didn't end until he was near the water truck off of turn number four. When the safety crew arrived at the car Nelson was conscious but having a lot of difficulty breathing. He was taken out of the car on a backboard and transported to nearby Enloe Medical Center by Ambulance. It was reported later in the night that Taylor had suffered a Partially Collapsed Lung as well as a Severe Concussion, but was otherwise okay. They chose to keep him overnight as a precaution as well. We would like to wish Taylor a full and speedy recovery and hope to see him back on track soon.

The Street Stock Main Event was an exciting race to watch as the Shoe in Favorite to win, Mitch Machado jumped out to an early lead. Machado would stretch his lead out over Jake Vantol a little bit in the early running of the race. About halfway through the race though it became evident that something was amiss on Machado's car. Through the center of the turns it seemed as though Machado did not have power to the car. At one point the car came out of gear in turn 4 only to have Vantol slam into the back of him knocking the car back into gear. On lap 15 Jake Vantol took over the lead as Machado's machine finally gave up. Jake Vantol would cruise on to the victory, his first of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway. Phil Marino had a solid race and came home 2nd. Followed closely by Kevin Lesch who debuted a beautiful new Chico Volkswagen Machine in the 3rd spot. Heather Bartlett had another solid night finishing in the 4th position. While Richard Workman rounded out the top 5. Mitch Machado and Jake Vantol both picked up victories in their respective heat races.

Ryan McDaniel once again dominated the Ltd. Late Model main event. Ryan was challenged momentarily by the 2c of Duane Cleveland but McDaniel was able to stay consistent lap after lap and power to another victory in the division. Cleveland would hang on the finish 2nd. Followed by Randy McDaniel in 3rd after starting at the rear of the field. Ray Trimble would finish a solid 4th, and Dominic Stone rounded out the top five. Ryan and Randy McDaniel each won Heat Races for the Ltd. Late Model Division.

The Mini Stock Division had a battle for the ages for the victory tonight as Jimmy Ford would come out on top. Galen Hainline would lead the first 3 laps of the race. Jimmy Ford made the pass on Hainline and would lead the final 17 laps to go on to victory. But it wasn't as easy as that made it sound. Ford withstood charges from Howard Law, Shaun Merritt, and Galen Hainline for the entire race. All four drivers battled for the lead together all the while not making any contact. It was the definition of good clean driving by all 4 drivers. Howard Law would end up taking home the 2nd position, followed by Galen Hainline in 3rd. James Foster would finish 4th, while Kyle Cheney would round out the top five. Shaun Merritt dropped out of the race after battling early on for the race lead. Galen Hainline picked up the sole Heat Race Win for the division.

Brian Compton returned to his winning ways at Silver Dollar Speedway in the Hobby Stock Division. Compton would dominate the field of Hobby Stocks en route to his first win of the season. Jesse Skidmore and Kyle Allen were the only other cars to complete all 15 laps of the feature event. Brian Compton was also victorious in the lone Heat Race for the Hobbys.
