Shane Golobic Thrills Silver Dollar Fair Crowd At Civil War No. 3

CHICO, CA (5-25-14) - In front of a jam packed crowd on hand during the Silver Dollar Far, Fremont, CA driver, Shane Golobic went toe-to-toe with Chico, CA native Jonathan Allard, and used a late race pass after a torrid battle to secure his first Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster win of 2014.

At the drop of the green flag it was 2013 Fair Race winner, Mason Moore, jumping out to the lead with Golobic, Allard, and Sean Becker chasing after him.

The very racy speedway saw two lanes of action, and with Moore using the bottom, Golobic was relentless on top, and was able to jump into the lead exiting turn two on the seventh lap.

With the field bunching up for a double file restart on the 11th lap, Allard was able to get under Moore to take the second spot, as he began chasing after Golobic's Gabilan Ag Services/Keith Day Trucking entry.

While the battle for the lead up front was heating up, the battle for third was just as exciting, as Becker and Moore continually swapped the show position as the leaders pulled away.

Elsewhere in the field, some moving and shaking was happening as Steven Tiner, Colby Wiesz, and Justin Sanders were charging into the Top-10 from the rear of the field.

Back up front, Allard closed in on Golobic as the laps clicked down, and on the 21st lap he grabbed the lead aboard his Tri C Manufacturing/K&N mount, right before the yellow flew on the 22nd lap, for Justin Sanders.

After a three lap run with Allard leading, and several drivers using the restart to gain a bunch of positions, a yellow on lap 24 set up a six-lap shootout that had fans on the edge of their seat.

With Allard getting the jump, Golobic was hot on his tail, as he continued to run the high scary side, as Allard searched the speedway in front of him.

With Golobic getting in front of him at times, Allard would answer, but on the 26th lap, Golboic made his winning move that brough the house to their feet in approval, and went on to pull to a sizeable lead over the final six laps to pick up the popular win.

"I hope all of you fans liked that because that was one heck of a show," Golobic said on the front stretch. "I can't thank all of my guys enough for their hard work. We have been fast. On that last restart I told myself to let it all hang out, and I did, and had a blast racing with Allard."

Coming in second was Jonathan Allard after having an absolute horrible night in Marysville the night before.

"I would have loved to win, but we are pretty happy to be on the front stretch after a disaster of a night on Saturday," He said. "I am up here with two of the best drivers in the world, so I can't complain. My guys worked hard all day long, and Clyde and Marion Lamar continue to support us."

Finishing in the third spot for the second time with the series was reigning series champion, Sean Becker aboard the H.A.M. Construction/A.R.T. No. 35M.

"To be honest, I had the best seat in the house," Becker said with a smile. "I had a great race going with Mason Moore for the third spot, and we are pumped to be running up front, but that battle for the lead was awesome to watch. This team continues to give me a great car, and I am excited for Placerville.

Behind the top three, it was Mason Moore, Andy Gregg, Colby Wiesz who started in the 15th spot, 19th starting Steven Tiner, Jimmy Trulli, Cory Eliason, who started 14th, and came from back after a late spin, and Geoff Ensign rounding out the Top-10.

In preliminary action, Jonathan Allard kicked the night off by timing in with quick time before Sean Becker, Matt Barber, Andy Gregg, and Jimmy Truli won heat races.

Kirt Organ won the C, Andy Forsberg won the B, and Mason Moore won the night's Dash to put himself on the pole of the feature event.
