Championship Night This Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway

CHICO, CA (8-19-14) - The Tri Counties Bank point championship season is coming to conclusion this Friday night, August 22nd. Spirited point battles and top name drivers scheduled to appear this Friday will make this show a must attended event by our fans. The 410 winged sprint cars, dirt modified's, limited late models, Perma-Zyme wingless sprints and street stocks are scheduled to race and all five divisions will have a champion crowned once the final checkered flag is waived. Tonight will also serve as the Tyler Wolf Memorial for the winged sprint car drivers. There is a lot of extra money on the line for this division and the privilege of winning the main event in honor of the speedway's youngest sprint car champion.

The nights racing action is presented by Chico Volkswagen and Cherry St. Mini Storage. The night is also referred to as Pepsi Night because some main event winners will receive a 6ft tall perpetual trophy. Front gate will open at 6 PM with racing scheduled to start at 7 PM. Adult general admission is $13.00, seniors and juniors $11.00, kids $6.00 and children five and under are free.

Roseville, CA driver Sean Becker holds a narrow nine-point lead over Princeton's Mason Moore. Becker is a three-time Silver Dollar Speedway champion and has won the previous two titles. His first championship came in 2005. Becker also has two wins this season on Friday nights whereas Moore is still in search of his first. Both drivers have shown incredible consistency this year. Orland's BJ Martin sits in the third spot all by himself. Martin has shown brilliance this year and just picked up a fast time award. Fourth place driver Corning's Bud Walberg holds a narrow one-point advantage over Anderson's Keith Bloom. Top talent like Rutherford's Rico Abreu, Chico's Jonathan Allard, Auburn's Andy Forsberg and Placerville's Andy Gregg are all scheduled to appear and race in honor of Tyler Wolf.

The dirt modified division has a three-way battle going on for the championship. Two-time and defending champion Duane Cleveland holds a two-point edge over six time track champion Randy McDaniel. Three-time track champion Ryan McDaniel sits in the third position and is just three points behind Cleveland. Three drivers, separated by three points that have a combined 11 Silver Dollar Speedway driving championships. It does not get any better than this. Ryan has dominated the feature event wins with four. Both Cleveland and Randy have one win each. Dustin Massey has performed well this season and holds the fourth spot. James Hit should be commended for his solid season and rounds out the top five. Former two-time track champion Mark Abouzeid is sponsoring the night and will want to end up in victory lane. He could play spoiler in the night's outcome.

Chris Warner won an electric street stock main event last week. The win propelled him to a six-point advantage over two-time champion Phil Marino. Two-time and defending champion Jake Vantol has dug himself into a ten point hole. Vantol will need to win every event he enters on Friday and need the top two drivers to have off nights. Mike Slightom has continued to show his consistence behind the wheel of a street stock and sits in the fourth spot. Veteran Gary Newman holds a three-point edge over Richard Workman in a battle for a top five finish.

Even though Duane Cleveland stopped Ryan McDaniel's four race winning streak last Friday night during the Limited Late Model main event, he still trails McDaniel by 13 championship points. Matt Micheli is in the third spot while Dominic Stone and Willy McMillen round out the top five. With the discrepancy in points it will take a major blunder by any driver in the top five to lose or gain positions.

The Perma-Zyme wingless sprint car season championship will come down to a battle between Tommy Sherman Jr. and Don Emery. While Sherman Jr. has two wins he only holds a five point cushion over Emery. Terry Schank Jr. is the only other driver to win main events this season at Chico. Johnny Burns holds a six-point lead over Nathan Johnson for the third spot.
