CHICO, CA (8-14-15) - Los Angeles sprint car driver Tyler Walker driving the Richie Rich #88x picked up the emotional 25-lap sprint car main event win Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. It was his fourth career win at the track but his first since October 2, 2009. Its been a long road back since I got my last win here, said Walker. But I am just so thankful that this team has given me a great opportunity and I cant thank the fans enough who have stuck by me.

Walker led the first two laps of the main event. Yet, on lap three, Andy Forsberg found the high side of the race track to his advantage and passed Walker. The cushion was ripe for the drivers who ventured upstairs to rip around it. Forsberg built up a decent lead the next few laps until a slower car blocked his advancement on the track. Walker was able to capitalize and took back the lead on the eighth lap. From here on out it was the Walker show. He extended his lead to nearly a full straight away before a yellow was needed on lap 20.

Things got weird on the restart when the lights went out and it seemed Walker never took off. The yellow light was put back on and the field was restarted. The next attempt saw Walker pull away from the field and go on to win with ease. Forsberg brought the #92 home in the second spot. Sean Becker drove up from his eighth starting to spot to finish third. Bobby McMahan, substituting for Jonathan Allard, did a fine job to finish in the fourth spot. Jason Statler was a nice addition to the show and finished fifth.

Forsberg and McMahan each won their eight lap heat race. Becker earned the Tyler Wolf Fast Time Award with a lap of 12.264. A total of 15 sprint cars entered the nights event.

It was quite the night for Marysvilles Ryan McDaniel. The multi-talented driver scored two wins tonight and a track championship. McDaniel won the 20-lap dirt modified main event but he was also involved with the best race of the night. McDaniel was perfect this year in the limited late model division. He had won the previous seven main events in a row. However, tonight he seemed just a little bit off his game. McDaniel ran third for most of the main event. Up front Matt Micheli led the first 11 lap until he got caught up with a lapped car. This allowed Jeff Olschowka to take the lead. McDaniel began to make his move towards the front on lap 15 but a yellow for Phil Marino put him back a spot. With five laps to go and running third, it seemed his streak would end. Yet McDaniel didnt crack under the pressure. He drove around Micheli and then underneath Olschowka on back to back laps. He took the white flag as the leader and on the ensuing lap the crowd stood up and applauded for not only what he had accomplished tonight, but this season. Micheli was able to get back around Olschowka for the second spot. Ray Trimble and Duane Cleveland rounded out the top five.

McDaniel won the dirt modified main event with ease. Chicos Mark Abouzeid led the first five laps of the race. It was nice to see the rocket man return to his fast ways. However, Abouzeid drove it a little too deep and hard into turn one and spun out. This gave the lead to McDaniel and from here on out it was his show. Cleveland, also doing double duty tonight, finished in the second spot. Petalumas Oreste Gonella drove to a third place finish. Monte Bischoff finished fourth. Abouzeid came back to finish fifth. Randy McDaniel and Abouzeid won their eight lap heat race.

Clinton Earl claimed his second street stock main event in a row besting the thirteen car field. Phillip Shelby jumped out to the lead on the opening lap hanging on until lap twelve when Earl powered around the outside of Shelby in turn three for the lead. Earl held off points leader Eddie Hammett for the win after Hammett rebounded from an early race spin to finish second with Shelby rounding out the top three. Heat race victories went to Hammett and Richard Workman.

David Pierce jumped out to the early lead of the hobby stock main event. Dustin Massey was able to get around Pierce for the lead on lap three. Brian Cooper and Todd Cooper would get Pierce and close in on Massey to make it a three car battle for lead. Massey was able to hold off Brian Cooper and Todd Cooper coming to the checkered flag to claim victory. Brian and Todd rounded out the top three and each claimed a heat race win.
