Extra $4,500 on the Line for Friday Night's 5th Annual Tyler Wolf Memorial
CHICO, CA (8-15-17) -Â The 2017 race season at the Silver Dollar Speedway has begun to wind to an end. This Friday night marks our second to last points race of the season and is one of our biggest events on the schedule, the 5th Annual Tyler Wolf Memorial.
With extra money on the line a full field of winged 410 sprint cars is expected to compete on the clay quarter mile. A lot of people have stepped up once again this year with donations towards the overall purse for the event. Mittry Construction has donated $1000, Walberg Inc. stepped up with $500, Whitchurch Trucking with $300, Axner Excavating with $250, and Kent's Meats with $200. All the donations listed above have gone towards the purse for the top three finishers in the Main Event. The Main Event Winner will now pocket no less than $3,000 dollars for their efforts, with second place paying $1,500 and third place paying $1,000.
We have also raised $1,250 in Lap Money to be distributed among the top three running cars throughout the race. The leader of each lap will earn $25, while second will earn $15, and third will earn $10. If one driver leads all 25 laps of the Main Event they would earn an extra $625 on top of the winner's purse of $3,000.
Mancamp Motorsports ($250), along with Ing Excavation ($200) and Rod Winkle ($50) have stepped up to make up our $500 Hard Charger Award, going to the driver who improves the most positions from where they started the feature. If there is a tie, the driver finishing furthest up in the running order will be awarded the tie breaker.
Kyle Larson Racing has stepped up big once again this year for the Tyler Wolf Memorial Fast Time Award. This year's award will pay $500 to the fastest qualifier in Time Trials. Kyle has supported this event well over the years and we appreciate his generosity in giving back to the sport.
Withrow's Motorsports has also stepped up this year with fuel donations. Each 410 sprint car Heat Race winner will get a certificate good for 5 gallons of fuel, the B-Main winner (if needed) will get 5 gallons, the fifth place finisher in the A-Main will get 5 gallons, and the Tough Luck Award winner will also receive 5 gallons.
In total we have raised $4,500 in total for this year's event. So it is sure to draw in some driver's that haven't normally competed with us this season. That could cause a shake up in the points standings, with more cars being present in the pit area.
Andy Forsberg comes into this weekend's race with a 21 point advantage over second place driver Michael Ing in the race for the 2017 Track Championship. Chase Majdic sits third in the Chuck Wolf owned #19 car. Majdic is currently 25 points behind Forsberg for the top spot. Those three drivers are the only three drivers who still have a shot at the Championship in 2017.
Other divisions scheduled to compete during Friday night's event are the Wingless Sprints, Economy Sprints, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks. The Economy Sprint Championship will be decided Friday night. Mike Ficklin is the current points leader and just needs to start the Main Event on Friday to clinch his first ever Silver Dollar Speedway Track Championship.
There is sure to be plenty of excitement on the race track. We hope to see everyone out and supporting local dirt track racing on Friday night. Cars are scheduled to hit the track for Qualifying at 6:30 PM with racing to start at 7:00 PM. For ticket information and/or directions to the Speedway, please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
