Johnson Records First Career 410 Sprint Car Win at Silver Dollar Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (June 12, 2017) – Chase Johnson earned his first career 410ci winged sprint car victory last Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Johnson, who was debuting his newly formed Chase Johnson Racing No. 24, opened the event by setting quick time during qualifying at the quarter-mile oval.

“To start with a brand new car and at a track we don’t have that many laps in with a 410 and to be that fast out of the gate felt really good,” he said. “It really reassured us we had something capable of running up front.”

Johnson then finished where he started – fourth – in a heat race to advance into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 6 during the random draw to start the main event on the outside of the third row.

“After drawing the No. 6 in the redraw and us not advancing in the heat race I was a little bit nervous,” he said. “I knew we were fast, but I wasn’t sure how we were going to race. I ended up picking off guys pretty quickly in the beginning of the race to get to third around Lap 12. I got to second right after that. I ran there for three laps and then the leader had a problem that took him out of the race. After that we never looked back and we won by seven seconds I think.”

The win was Johnson’s first in a sprint car this season.

“I was pretty happy,” he said. “It’s been a struggle getting to the front in the 410. It feels really good to secure that first 410 win. It shows the effort that my team as well as Shawn and Cyndi’s team has put out to get me to the point of winning races.”

Johnson will return to the Shawn and Cyndi Thomas owned team this Saturday at Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, Calif., with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series.
