Sides Closing California Swing With Race at Keller Auto Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2021) – Jason Sides wraps up his first visit to California in two years this weekend with a race at Keller Auto Speedway.

The dirt oval in Hanford hosts the Tom Tarlton Classic on Saturday before the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series returns east.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I know Peter (Murphy) has been doing a good job at that track. I’ve watched a few races online. We want to get in and out of there with a clean night. A top 10 would be nice.”

Sides last competed at the track in March 2019. He charged from 23rd to sixth during his previous appearance at Keller Auto Speedway in March 2017.

Sides competed at the Gold Cup Race of Champions last weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway, where he advanced forward both nights to finish 19th in the A Main.

“Qualifying put us behind both nights,” he said. “The first day the track was greasy and started going slick really quick with a big curb. The second night I tiptoed when the sun was peaking through. I really couldn’t see where to enter. Not qualifying well just puts you in the back of the heat and it’s an uphill climb the rest of the night.”

Sides qualified 24th quickest and gained a spot in a heat race to place fifth, which locked him into the main event on Friday. He picked up one position in the feature to end 19th.

The next night began with the 29th quickest qualifying time. Sides maneuvered from eighth to seventh in a heat race, from fifth to second in the Last Chance Showdown and from 22nd to 19th in the main event.

Sept. 11 – Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. – Qualifying: 29; Heat race: 7 (8); B Main: 2 (5); Feature: 19 (22).
